The Power of Prayer

Prayer Partners

A few days ago a close friend of mine called me and was in a frantic mess because he was leaving the next day for Bermuda and couldn’t find his passport anywhere. He had planned this trip with his family and taken off time from work months prior and had been looking at a nice getaway vacation for some time. He said, “I always keep it in the same place and its not there!”  He had no time to get a new passport before his 5:30am flight in just a few short hours.

At this point it was clear that I had nothing to contribute myself to his anxiety. If I said things like, its gonna be alright, you’ll find it, I knew that would just get him even more irritated. :)   So in that moment I said to myself, “give it up to the all knowing, infinite Source of clarity and peace”  So I said, “hey, can I pray with you about this?”

He said yeah, (although I knew he wasn’t fully in any mindset to be thinking of praying or affirming.) He was twisting his brain in a thousand different directions trying to figure out where he had left it last.

I began praying by revealing the Truth of God which is one of Clarity, Love, and Divine Peace of mind. In this prayer I affirmed that my friends fear and doubt would be released and that in the moment he let go and let God his passport would be found. I expressed the gratitude I had for the friendship and the prayer together and released it as being already an answered prayer.

After the prayer my friend said thank you, although I could hear in his voice that he was still dreading the idea of not being able to board the plane in the morning.

Later that night I received a phone call from him in elated joy. “I found it, I found it, I found it!!!”, he said.  He then shared that he had been searching all night everywhere in his house and just as he began to give up looking he poured himself a glass of wine and then a clear thought came to him about a bag he use to carry to work that he hadn’t checked. And there it was all along.

I shared with him how all he needed to do was get out of the way (his mind) and let go of the situation. Trust!  At the moment of letting go of the worrying it was found. Doesn’t it seem like that for us in our life at times that at the moment we give up all the answers we were searching for come through??  Do you have something in your life your trying to control that you could use a little Divine assistance with?

I have to be honest that this answered prayer was a confidence builder in my prayer life and a great lesson for me that when I’m walking in the unknown direction in my life to surrendor my own fear and control and to Trust that it is all in divine plan.

Belief and trust…keep on trusting regardless of what is going on around you, even if things seem hopeless.
But God is real and is very aware of what is going on with us,
and He knows that most of the time we doubt Him.
But He does desire that we take that one leap of faith to trust Him with our lives. And when we take that leap, He is finally able to wrap His arms around us. Jesus asks us to have faith like a child. But as adults, our past disappointments have corrupted us. We need to go back to that place where we have unquestioning faith and believe as a child. And what does that mean? It means we have to:

Relinquish your mind’s control over all situations.
Take your hands off and let go of your fear & unbelief.
Stop trying to figure things out.
    TRUST GOD TO WORK

Awesome post Tommy!!! Thank you for the encouragement and reminder!
